It's a rainy day...

Hello dears,

How are your weeks going? Fantastic? Great!
Not so fantastic? Hmmm, hang in there!

Well, it's raining here. I'm not going to go drive out there because that will result in me going insane inside my car stuck in traffic. Traffic is one of the things in life that can irritate me veeery quickly :) at least when I'm the driver. Does that happen to you?

So instead (and I do this often, not only when it rains) I decided to stay at the office longer and do something I enjoy much more: Sit in front of the computer as opposed to my steering wheel and look at neat things online.

In view that it's all rainy outside and that I'm a mess right now --I had to go buy some groceries for the office and  take heavy stuff out of my car with rain coming down-- I want to share these cute rain-related items I've found on Etsy and forget about the way I look:

Can someone please buy me these cloud earrings? They're perfect for rainy days and I just love their uniqueness!!

Oh puddles, you mess my shoes and I don't like you. Maybe I would if I came across one with a cute toy fish:

back to jewelry... I love this necklace. I really want it. But I'm good at always abstaining from spending money in things I don't need right now. One day I might get it though...

Let's not forget other artists who draw or paint amazing things:

Anyway, after sighing 7 times, let me just wish you a lovely evening. Wouldn't it be cool if all rainy days ended up with these colors?

Oh no! Almost forgot! Guys, whoever has an Etsy account, could you vote for my Recycled binder in this Etsy Voter?

It would be awesome! It doesn't matter if I'm not the winner, I just want to be on the top half, or better even, the top 12 in case they decide to put them on the front page :)

Alrighty bye now! Thanks for reading :)

Etsy Etsy Etsy, I love you

Just thought I'd do a little advertising on my blog :) not
just for me but for other talented people on Etsy.

So here are some of my favorite items. Amazing artists out there...

This would be my photography shop. Come visit sometime!
Etsy

I have 4 sales so far, but eventually I am sure I can reach more people
and also improve as an artist.

This is a picture I took with my phone before shipping one of my sold items.
Whoever buys from my store gets a note from me, a nicely-wrapped print protected from all hazards! and who knows, maybe even more surprises :) Also, I'll probably have a sale at my shop this month because my birthday is coming up!

Now go and check out some Etsy stores!
And if you make anything you feel you're good at, open one! Who knows who might be waiting for your art out there.

Paper Snowflakes!

At my office, we had to come up with an idea for this year's Christmas cards.
After looking through some of our printed samples, one of my co-workers had
the idea of making them ourselves. I think it's brilliant; so we are going
to make paper snowflakes, scan them, and make a card with our signatures!

I am very excited to create my own; I found these cool tutorials. It's been years since I last made a paper snowflake, so I kind of forgot the process.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to decorate your window with so many of
those cool designs? They look lovely at night!

This is the one I've made so far... not bad for having just re-learned the process!

Let me show you the one I would really like to do. Sea Horses:

Oh, I also came across this creation:

a CD Ornament made with a paper shredder. Crazy!

Have you made any handmade ornaments or other decorations this year?
If I can succesfully finish my Sea Horse Snowflake, I will make sure I post it here!

Theater!

Today I want to write a short post about one of my favorite arts. Guys, if you haven't been to a Broadway play, you have to!! They are indescribable experiences; I can't use enough words to describe  all the magical feelings that theater awakens in me.

I used to perform when I was in high school in Peru. I actually miss it a lot; I've always thought that those who perform (in theater) for a living have one of the most amazing occupations. Every time I get out of a play-- and this always happens-- I feel 99% joyful, 1% melancholic. My mind spaces out for a few minutes and tries to imagine what being an actress would have been like.

These are the plays that I've seen so far:
- Phantom of the Opera (absolutely amazing)I knew I had to see this play after I heard the main song for the first time.
- Jesus Christ Super Star
- Monty Python's Spamalot (very funny!)
- Mamma Mia
- Wicked (incredible!)

And these are the plays I cannot wait to see (my priorities)
- Beauty & the Beast
- Bye Bye Birdie
- Grease
- Miss Saigon
- Le Misérables

Do you have any favorites? Any that you would recommend? Out of the ones I've seen, I recommend that you watch Phantom of the Opera & Wicked first. The stories are amazing... and the stage effects? out of this world.

Before I finish, I want to tell you about  my mom and I's last Saturday adventure. We went to see Lea Salonga. Do you know who she is? Well, she is known for her outstanding musical role of Kim in Miss Saigon, for having received numerous awards, and for being the singing voice of Princess Jasmine in Aladdin. Her voice is truly amazing... I've never been to a concert of that type before, but I really enjoyed it; and when she sang "A Whole New World," she asked any guy from the audience to join her (for the Aladdin part), and it was just like listening to princess Jasmine. I know... duh, it's her voice, but hearing it live was incredible. Tell me about any favorite theatrical experiences you've had... I'd love to hear some.

Missed Connections- What a wonderful idea...

I'm sure many people have already mentioned this on their blogs, but I had to do it too.
Has your curiosity ever led you to scan through the messages from the Missed Connections section in Craigslist? You probably know about it... people write messages with descriptions in the hope of finding someone they saw or met for a short time, or just to tell someone something {good or bad} when--for various reasons-- they can't say it directly. The thing is, this artist has a magnificent blog with drawings depicting what the messages say. She imagines the characters and creates lovely artwork based on them. Here is an example:

- m4w

We shared a bear suit at an apartment party on Saturday night.
I asked for your number and you gave it to me, but somehow I don't
have an area code written down. I had a great time talking with you,
and I don't trust Chance enough to wait until I see you in the elevators...

When will I come up with an idea this brilliant? Here is the article on her blog for you to check it out and also take a look at the other drawings. You'll love all of them!
Oh! And look at her website... I think I'm jealous now.

Rainbows & Smiles,
Marcela
